Maintenance is the key to any successful mower. I've had both J.d.'s and
ReplyDeleteCraftsman and for the $$ difference J.D. is just not worth it. Granted the
J.D. is a little more rugged with ginger bread items but a Craftsman that
is taken care ofi will do the same job as the J.D. and last just as long
and you'll sleep a lot better knowing the checkbook has not been robbed.?
You should have been comparing a JD 110 instead of the luxury line.?

ReplyDeletemower, I wouldn't buy a craftsman either. Seems like comparing a Chevy
Malibu to a Mercedes.?
Um not to prove u wrong but the craftsmen is a BASIC mower and the X500 is
ReplyDeletelike the top line for the X series (my dad has the exact same craftsmen
mower but we got a new yt 4500 so were keepin both of the craftsmen?

I am a hardcore John Deere fan and have been looking at the X500 with the
ReplyDelete48" deck, its honestly alot more than I need but I do have a garden and can
use implements with it like a small disc, but the John Deere X500 is
$6,000....alot of money for any mower.?

I will admit, if you have level lawn, the MTD tractor will do the job with
ReplyDeleteproper maint. but, if you have hilly, hard, steep grades, tough mowing,
than nothing runs like a DEERE...believe me, it will more than pay for
itself over the years, exspecially with all the features X500 has and you
can trade up to the X534, for 4WD..great Garden Tractor is the John Deere.?
Try comparing something like a Craftsman DGT 6000 54" to your JD X500 54".
ReplyDeleteMy 2005 still works almost as good as my JD. Granted the new JD has the
castrating anti scalp wheels and the traction lock but these seems to be
the big advantages.
I notice your sears put the cup holder on the opposite side of the
discharge. Why don't all mfg's do that??

ReplyDeletesmallest 42 inch mower. Of course it will be heavier duty. compare your
john deere to a craftsman DGT 6000. That craftsman was $1200 new.?

ReplyDeletealready pointed out. The garden/lawn tractors out there are ALL made by 3
or 4 companies, most commonly AYP or MTD. So unless you have a $10000
+ commercial zero-turn these comparisons are pointless.?
x500 is garden tractor. Why compare to a Craftsman lawn tractor less than
ReplyDeletehalf the price? Need to show x500 to a craftsman 7400 or craftsman garden
tractor pro with an elite?

cut 22hp vtwin and? if you wait til around Christ/mas time end of the
cutting season they throw in a garden cart for free.

my friend bought his mower with store gift cards so when he bought the

free gas cards for 3 years of mowing.?
Some things to mention. x500 has huge turf tires, locking rear
ReplyDeletedifferential, implement foot lever, quick release deck with 5 antiscalp
wheels. Power steering is available. I've got the older version which was
the GX255, it is a mountain goat work horse worth every penny. ?
