ReplyDeleteI am not a good mechanic but I have no fire to my 17hp briggs Stratton and
ReplyDeleteneed to know what to do
If its a safety switch, yes just hook up power to one side and hook up
ReplyDeletewhere you want the power to go on the other side then predd the button
here is it located on a crafstman ?
ReplyDeletethanks josh you da man
ReplyDeleteGreat videos and content Josh. Keep it them coming. I've got a craftsman
ReplyDeletezero turn that has a starting problem. Got a new battery and still nothing
so I'm using your videos to troubleshoot. Again thanks and keep up the good
work.
Thanks, Josh these are great videos. I've got a seat switch on the Deere LA
ReplyDelete115 which has 4 connectors all in a row side by side...1 2 3 4. I'm
wondering how to tell what the continuity test should be. I get continuity
between 1 and 4 and between 2 and 3 when the switch is not depressed. I get
NO continuity between any 2 connections when the switch is depressed (i.e.
the driver is in the seat). Regardless, I'm thinking this is a defective
switch because there should be some change. No?
Like being back in Electricity 101. I Like
ReplyDelete@imapcc00 - Sorry it took so long to reply! - On the two Craftsman I have
ReplyDeletein the shop, the solenoid is located under the dashboard the steering wheel
is on. If the gas tank is under the hood you might have to remove to get
good access to it. - Josh@metalinmotionshop
Rae, I'm having the same issue. Google "seat switch 401545". My switch
ReplyDeletelooks like that. Were you able to resolve your issue? Was it the switch?
Would bypassing this switch be as easy as splicing the wires?
ReplyDeleteReally informative, please keep them coming. Thanks
ReplyDeletemy switch only have two ternminals can i still check it the same as u did n
ReplyDeletethe video
Thanks so much. This video and a combination of others helped me get my
ReplyDeletemower back in commission. Much appreciated.
Josh, great videos and I just wanted to say thank you very much for saving
ReplyDeleteme a ton of money. I had the dead Craftsman lawn tractor thing, I followed
your video for testing the solenoid and it was fine, then tested the
ignition switch and it was fine and after watching this video I tested the
blade switch and it was faulty. I have replaced the switch and gave the
tractor a damn good clean while I was at it and now it runs great again.
Great job, many thanks. Blu
Thanks a bunch
ReplyDeleteCan you give any advise for getting the switch out?
ReplyDeleteAfter watching a half a dozen of these, your video NAILED my problem: a
ReplyDeletesloppy switch which required being pushed all the way in before continuity.
GREAT video, highly informative. Thank you!?
Ta Josh again. Clear precise intelligent presentation. ?
ReplyDeletewhen i release clutch it dies..and or pull engage ment switch..18 ohv

how to adjust valves on a 24 horse power on a b&s riding lawn mower engine??
ReplyDeletei take all of mine off , so you can use the mower , they only made for
ReplyDeleteidiots which is pretty common these days ?
I have a troy bilt Model 13AN689G766 when I pulll back the handle to
ReplyDeletedisengage the mower cutting deck and place in the stop bade position ((this
also pushes on the interlock switch that your video showed.) my blades do
not stop turning when I place the handle in this position. I am guessing
that this switch has become defective. does this sound correct? I will
test this switch as per your great video. thanks in advance for your video
and any advise you can give. Kevin?
Hopefully you can help me find the problem with my tractor before I need to
ReplyDeleteeither bring it in for service, or set it ablaze in the back yard. My
problem, or I should say "problems" are that 1, the pedal safety switch was
bad, and it was replaced, but now, as soon as I release the brake pedal,
the mower stalls out. 2) with the brake pedal depressed, and the mower
running, as soon as I pull the PTO switch to the ON position, the mower
also shuts down. I have a jumper on the seat safety switch, so I would
think that is not a part of the problem. Since the PTO switch is a part of
the brake pedal safety switch circuit, I even replaced that, but still the
same. The fuse is good, and the engine runs strong with no problem. Any
guidance would be appreciated.?
